Abstract
The authors discuss the possibility of linking cognitive, metaphorical and etymological approaches for the conceptual analysis of the language of politics. It is demonstrated, with concrete examples taken (“chaos”, “leader”, “freedom”), how cognitive analysis may set a certain field of meanings for etymological analysis which in its turn may turn out to be a starting position for the creation of a metalanguage of the study of concepts. Combined methods, as proved by the authors, allow not only to reconstruct distinct structures of meanings, but also to restore the generating metastructure of meanings.
