The purpose of this essay is to demonstrate importance and necessity of developing political philosophy in modern Russia. High-quality knowledge and understanding of contemporary Russian political processes is impossible without political philosophy, since it is exactly in this sphere of social science that interpretation of basic foundations of politics, of its regularities and, besides, interpretation of its inner logic is taking place, as well as comprehension of value principles and purposes of political activities. Moreover, no adequate answer is possible on the part of Russian society to the challenges of modernity which demands special and regular reflection about both one’s personal and social being. It is in this context that the appearance of T.A.Alekseyeva’s book «Political Philosophy. From Conceptions to Theories» presents itself as especially valuable and timely. One should think, this work is a considerable contribution to the development of political philosophy discourse in present-day Russia.
