Abstract
The article describes the life and creative activities of William Frank Buckley, Jr., (who died in February, 2008) - founder, ideological inspirer and the most eminent advocate of American conservatism. Much attention is given to the US right-wing press and especially to the National Review journal (appears since 1955) - a popular conservative publication whose editor-in-chief for a long time was Buckley. The article also discloses the role that Buckley used to play in American conservatism as political and intellectual movement; his criticism against liberal ideology and politics; laudation by him of the principal values of conservatism, such as revelation, church, tradition and family; Buckley’s attitude towards the national question.
