It is basic cognitive interpretations of the concept of imperialism that are considered in the article. The author introduces the notion of pictorial imperialism with the aim of more effective interpretation of the dynamics of Modernity. Different modes of treating pictorial imperialism may be joined by the notions of cospaciousness and geospatialism. Constantly reappearing imaginary geographies are the cognitive condition of reproduction of pictorial imperialism in its different local versions.
