Abstract
The article tackles the problem of the world economic crisis and of comprehension of its causes and consequences. Two concepts, two methodological approaches to the understanding of events and to the evaluation of the development prospects are compared. The author offers his own view of the problem, basing his analysis on the classic modernization theory.
