It is the phenomenon of uncontrolled territories in modern world that is considered in the article. The authors try to give operational definitions of such terms as “control of territory”, “uncontrolled territories”; analyze the main kinds and forms of control of territory. A typology of uncontrolled territories is suggested. Possible trends of their dynamics are analyzed.
