The paper examines problems in the study of contemporary political phenomena that are qualitatively different at the borderstates. The content of liminality conception, its theoretical and methodological potential for the study of political power, political exclusion, migration, protest and social movements is studied. Particular attention is paid to liminality in the Russian political process.
