Although N.Luhman’s name has in the recent years at last become heard also in Russia, his theoretico-political views are still poorly know even to specialists. In the article here presented, an attempt has been made to reconstruct Luhman’s ideas of the nature of the political, with the general design of his sociological theory taken into account. The author demonstrates that it is with an exceptional strength and purity that one of the trends in the development of social theory of the second half of the 20th century, the one being sometimes not quite correctly identified with socio-cybernetics or socio-technology, has manifested itself in the German sociologist’s work. Being continuer of the behaviourist and scientist tradition, Luhman put in practice the ways and methods of post-structuralism and destructivism in order to infuse new life into rationalism.
