It is the problem of methodological synthesis that constitutes the subject researched in the article. The author suggests solution of the problem resorting to the use of the methodological potential of the political event conception. For this purpose, first of all, the event nature of politics is exposed, and then specific features of the event analysis considered within the framework of explanation and comparison of all the three research strategies available for appliance: factual, interpretative, and event analyses. Special attention is paid to the role of the political event paradigm in modern comparative political studies.
