Abstract

The author of the article analyzes evolution and transformation of the outlook of Anthony Giddens, a well-known British sociologist and political scientist, director of the London School of Economics. Two of his works published in recent years, that had the most appreciable repercussions, are thoroughly examined: “The Third Way. The Renewal of Social Democracy” and “Runaway World. How Globalization Is Reshaping Our Lives”. V.A.Malkin finds Giddens’ reasoning be of considerable interest, yet the scientific significance of this researcher’s views are diminished by their overpoliticized character.
