The article claims to seek answers to the questions raised in the course of the discussion on world politics developed in 2004 to 2005 on the pages of the Polis and the Mezhdunarodnyje Protzessy journals. On analyzing the reasons impelling Russian specialists in world politics to dispute about what is it, after all, they are engaged in, the author suggests his own interpretation of world politics as particular case of international politics. According to his conclusion, both world politics and international politics possess all the attributes characteristic of politics as such, on account of which they must be studied within the framework of general theory of politics as one of its sections.
