Abstract

Is the "deficit of democracy" an immanent characteristic of the supranational mechanisms of economic decision making? Is their development really conducive to "erosion of the state sovereignty"? In search of answers to these questions the author turns to the analysis of the agents playing key roles in world economy regulation, as well as of specific features of their interaction. On finding out that the character of this interaction is today ever more influenced by such tendencies as the formation of global society, the global competition for loyalty, and the genesis of democratic mechanisms of global management, the author comes to the conclusion that it is exactly intensification of the said tendencies, and by no means the return to national governments of the economic regulation functions, that will make for the overcoming of the "deficit of democracy" in world economy processes.
