Abstract

Examined in the article are the origin, as well as the types of political theory, among which are distinguished classical philosophy, empirical political theory, formal political theory. Further are considered four schools of normative political theory (conflict, common values, exchange and coordination) and six schools of empirical political theory (system theory, behaviorism, theory of rational choice, institutionalism, neuroanalysis, and globalism). The author points to the need for consolidation of dialogue between normative and empirical political theories.
