The article by two researchers from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, presents the psychological portraits of the three high directors of the European Union: the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and for Security Policy – Catherine Ashton; the President of the European Commission – Jose Barroso; and the President of the European Council – Herman Van Rompey. In connection with the creation of the European analogue of a Ministry for foreign affairs, the said three positions in the EU are mutually intersecting and may generate serious problems. The authors substantiate the thesis that the three high officials of the EU have a moderate level of ambitiousness, that they display constructive, by their content, not conflict-promising models of political behavior, which opens favorable prospects for their mutual cooperation.
